This edition focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).  The world’s population reached 8 billion in mid-November and is projected to approach 10 billion by 2050. As the human family grows, it is important to create a sustainable future and deliver on the promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – to “leave no one behind”.

COAR Strategy 2022-24 and Work Plan 2023


Some of the exciting new additions to the Work Plan for next year are:

  • Organize regular webinars for COAR members discuss issues of interest (I will be in touch in early January for your suggestions)
  • With OpenAIRE and other European partners and members, develop and implement a strategy for modernizing the European repository network
  • Develop and launch a comprehensive directory of open access repositories
  • Undertake a landscape scan on the state of repositories
  • Develop recommendations to improve machine access to repository resources
  • Raise the profile of initiatives that have adopted the “publish, review, curate” model
  • Relocate the COAR legal seat to the Netherlands as a Dutch Stichting
